Modification of Polymer Coatings Using Hydrogel Nanocomposites abstract
The integration of hydrogel nanocomposites into polymer coatings represents a transformative approach in materials science, particularly in enhancing the performance and functionality of coatings. This article aims to review the extensive work being done in this field, exploring the modification of traditional polymer coatings through the incorporation of hydrogel nanocomposites, which offer unique properties such as increased flexibility, enhanced adhesion, and self-healing capabilities. The study delves into the synthesis of these nanocomposites, examining method including in situ polymerization. A comprehensive review of self-healing hydrogels is presented, highlighting their mechanisms and classifications. The biological applications of these modified coatings are discussed, particularly in biomedical fields where biocompatibility and bioactivity are paramount. The article also surveys the contributions of notable researchers in this domain, tracing the evolution of hydrogel technology and its impact on polymer coatings. Through a detailed analysis, this paper aims to provide insights into the future directions of hydrogel nanocomposites in polymer coatings, addressing both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in this innovative field.
