Investigating Key Parameters for Flawless Printing of Metal andCeramic Parts in Material Extrusion-BasedAdditive Manufacturing Processes abstract

Additive Manufacturing, or 3D printing, is revolutionizing modern manufacturing by enabling thecreation of complex geometries through a layer-by-layer construction process based on digital models. The article highlights the significant roles of metal and ceramic materials in AM due to their superiorproperties, such as mechanical strength and thermal resistance, making them suitable for highperformanceapplications in various industries, including aerospace and medical fields. Material extrusionis identified as a cost-effective method for fabricating these materials, utilizing a feedstock of metal orceramic powders mixed with binders. The process involves extruding this mixture to form "green" parts, which are then subjected to debinding and sintering to achieve the desired final properties. The authorsemphasize the importance of optimizing parameters such as feedstock characteristics, extrusionconditions, and post-processing techniques to enhance the quality of the produced parts. Furthermore, thearticle categorizes different types of material extrusion systems and discusses challenges such as defectsin part production, dimensional accuracy, and the need for improved mechanical properties. Overall, theresearch underscores the potential of MEAM technologies to advance manufacturing capabilities whileaddressing existing limitations through ongoing innovations in material formulations and processingtechniques.
