Investigating the recovery behavior of copper from Cu-containing slag abstract

A large amount of copper slag is produced annually and in many cases, it is thrown away. This slag is a potential threatto the environment due to the presence of heavy metals. On the other hand, base metals may spread in the environmentunder natural weathering or cause groundwater pollution through rainwater and settling in the ground. In addition,copper loss in slag is also very high. If this copper content of slag is recovered, the use of primary sources of copperproduction would be reduced. In the present research, copper has been recovered from copper slag using the solutionprocess. The effect of parameters such as particle size, hydrogen peroxide concentration, and pH on the dissolution ratehas been investigated. Finally, the maximum amount of copper recovery was obtained by optimizing the process.
