Abstract:
The Zagros region, characterized by complex geodynamics due to the ongoing collision between the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates, presents unique opportunities for examining the interplay between tectonic forces and subsurface geological structures. By analyzing temporal sequences of InSAR data, this research measures surface deformation associated with recent seismic events and correlates these movements with the uplift phenomena of salt domes. The results indicate a significant relationship between seismicity and the dynamic behavior of salt structures, highlighting both the impact of tectonic stress on the geomechanical responses of salt formations and the potential for enhanced understanding of seismic hazards in this active fold-thrust belt. This study contributes valuable insights into the geophysical processes affecting salt dome formation and stability, with implications for resource management and hazard assessment in the region.
