Prediction Of Depression Based On Excitability And Emotion Processing Mediated By Social Anxiety abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of predicting depression based on excitability and emotion processing with the mediation of social anxiety. The design of the research was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this research was all undergraduate and graduate students of Varamin-Pishva branch of Azad University in the academic year of 2019-2019. A sample size of 270 people was selected from the present statistical population by stratified sampling method. To collect data, Beck, Brown and Steer (1996) depression questionnaire, Connor, Davidson and Churchill (2000) social anxiety questionnaire, Crick, Hitan, Markova and Berrios (2006) irritability questionnaire and Bakker's emotion processing questionnaire (2007) were used. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regression and path analysis. The results of data analysis showed that irritability has a direct effect (0.24) and emotional processing has a direct effect (-0.13) on depression, and social anxiety played the role of a mediating variable in the relationship between irritability and emotional processing with depression in students. According to the findings, it is possible to emphasize the need to reduce social anxiety in people, especially students, who face a lot of stress and anxiety during their studies by using programs, counseling and training.
