A Study and Comparison on the Effectiveness of Emotion-based Couple Therapy and Schema-based Couple Therapy on Sexual Dissatisfaction in Unhappy Couples abstract
Couple therapy is very common all over the world. Couple therapy refers to a form of therapy in which a man and a woman solve their relationship problems with the help of a psychologist or counselor. This treatment method is completely different from individual treatments. Sometimes it is possible that two people do not have any mental or emotional problems, but they are unable to establish a relationship with each other. These people should go to a couple therapist to solve their relationship problem. Couples therapists solve couples' problems using different methods. There are various methods for teaching and changing communication patterns, one of the short-term treatment strategies is Johnson and Greenberg's emotion-oriented therapy, in other words, emotional focus therapy based on couple therapy or Emotional Focus Therapy. Emotion-focused couple therapy (EFT) is used to reduce confusion in adult romantic relationships and create safer attachment bonds and rebuild the couple's interactive patterns. We assume that the psychological state that couples have in their interactions and reactions is organized by the individual emotional experiences of each couple. Self-improvement and personal growth is the basis of emotion-oriented couple therapy and the main goal of emotion-oriented couple therapy is individual balance. We can define emotion management as the internal and external processes that are responsible for controlling the assessment and changing the emotional reactions of a person. Any defects in the regulation of emotions make a person vulnerable to mental disorders such as depression and anxiety and can be done automatically or controlled consciously or unconsciously. In addition, schema therapy for couples has been designed with the aim of using similar interventions to treat problems in couples' relationships. Schema therapy for couples not only teaches people to adopt a healthy adult mindset, but also encourages them to "lend" some of their healthy adult capacity to their partner. The purpose of this article is to study and compare the effectiveness of emotion-based couple therapy and schema-based couple therapy on sexual dissatisfaction in unhappy couples.
