Translation of Personification in "The Little Prince" by Ahmad Shamlou abstract

This essay examines how personifications are translated by Ahmad Shamlou in "The Little Prince" book and whether it is understandable for Persian readers. Personifications are not easy to translate since they are literary devices and translation of them is a delicate work that needs the translator's proficiency. By examining the translation of Ahmad Shamlou and the methods he used to translate personifications, this essay indicates that using the oblique translation method leads to a translation close to the target's culture. Based on this research, the oblique method of Vinay & Darbelnet is suitable enough for translating personification. In addition, it can be said that Shamlou's translation is acceptable because of using this method for translating this literary device in the book "The Little Prince".
