Design synthesis and in vitro anticancer activity of novel imidazolyl benzoic acid derivatives abstract

Several imidazole-containing drugs have been evaluated in clinical trials for their medical efficacy in a variety of illness situations. The rapid growth of imidazole-based medicinal chemistry implies that imidazole-derived molecules have promise and potentially curative properties for treating incurable disorders. In comparison to other heterocyclic rings, the imidazole core scaffold includes three carbon atoms and two nitrogen atoms with electron rich features that allow it to efficiently connect with a range of enzymes, proteins, and receptors. The imidazole derivatives were generated by refluxing para aminobenzoic acid with suitable benzaldehyde derivatives in the presence of glacial acetic acid, and the schiffs base was then refluxed with diacetyl and ammonium acetate. The synthesized compounds were characterized using chromatographic and spectroscopic data. Docking investigations for anticancer action were carried out using Autodock. Following that, the anticancer activity of the derivatives was tested using the trypan blue staining assay. Three compounds exhibited good anticancer activity where as five compounds exhibited weak to moderate anticancer activity. The findings suggested that novel imidazole derivative (4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4,5-dimethyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl] benzoic acid) possess promising anticancer activity.
