Smart Grid Integration and Charging Location Planning for Electric Vehicles abstract
The rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) presents a unique challenge and opportunity for modern urban areas. Smart grid integration plays a pivotal role in addressing the challenges posed by EV charging. Smart grids enable the coordination of EV charging loads, allowing to distribute energy efficiently. They facilitate demand response strategies, where EV charging can be temporarily adjusted to periods of lower grid demand, reducing strain on the grid. This paper explores the integration of smart grid technologies and optimized charging location planning to enhance the stability and sustainability of EV charging networks. A hypothetical scenario is presented, followed by a simulation-based study that demonstrates the potential benefits of smart grid integration. The results show improved grid stability, reduced grid overload incidents, and minimized voltage fluctuations. The discussion delves into the practical implications of these findings, highlighting the importance of grid-enhancing technologies in the context of EV charging. This paper concludes with policy recommendations and suggestions for future research in this promising field.
