Study of the effects of cement additives and polymer bitumen (SBS) in cold asphalt recycling abstract

Recently, greater attention to the environment, the reduction of high-quality stone material mines, the increase in traffic volume, the difficulty of traditional methods of repair and improvement, and in some cases their ineffectiveness, have forced road construction and road construction officials to use the potential of existing pavement materials and improvement methods more effectively. Among the existing solutions, cold recycling is an option that, in addition to environmental and economic advantages, can easily carry out the process of modifying and reusing the upper layers of materials, repairing and restoring the road surface, and ultimately increasing the load-bearing capacity in one pass, considering the development of advanced machinery, without damaging the substrate and its resistance. Cold recycling using emulsion bitumen is not a new method in the construction, improvement, and maintenance of roads. Currently, bitumen emulsions are used in all hot and cold asphalt works of various types of asphalt, protective, penetrating and surface coatings, and soil stabilization, as appropriate. This technique The invention has been able to make a significant contribution to improving road construction and maintenance in terms of reducing costs, preserving the environment, increasing safety, and the possibility of using it in wet conditions. In this study, to investigate the role of additives in the asphalt mixture, reinforcement was carried out simultaneously from two fronts by changing the proportions. Additives were added to the mixture in two chemical forms (cement and lime) by varying their percentages (1.5), (0) in order to improve the properties of the asphalt aggregates and also in the form of emulsion bitumen reinforcement by adding polymer (SBS) in different percentages (5, 3, 4) to produce polymer emulsion bitumen.
