Effect of Nitrogen and Pendimethalin fb. Bispyribac-sodium Rates Under Dry Direct-Seeded Condition of Aus Rice abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh, to investigate the effects of nitrogen rates and herbicides on the competitiveness and yield of dry direct-seeded rice (DSR) from March to July 2022. The experiment involved nitrogen rates (60 and 80 kg ha-1) and pendimethalin fb. bispyribac-sodium application rates. The experiment utilized a split-plot design with 12 treatment combinations and 3 replications, involving main plots for nitrogen rates and subplots for herbicidal treatments utilizing BRRI dhan98 as the experimental crop. Ten weed species from four different families were found to be infesting the experimental field. The dominant order of weed species was Physalis heterophylla > Echinochloa colona > E. crus-galli > Cyperus rotundus. Applying pre- and post-emergent herbicides effectively controlled various weed species, leading to escalated yield. The most successful combination was a nitrogen rate of 80kg ha-1 and pendimethalin 1500g a.i. ha-1 + bispyribac-sodium 45g a.i. ha-1, resulting in satisfactory grain yield.
