Degradation kinetics of Amylose under ultrasonic irradiation and effects of volume and solvent abstract
Ultrasonic degradation of Amylose was carried out in aqueous solution at 25oC. In this work, the effect of solution concentration and volume on the rate of degradation was investigated. It was also studied the effect of irradiation power and type of solvent on the Amylose degradation. Kinetics of degradation was studied by viscometry method. The calculated rate constants indicate that degradation rate of Amylose solutions decrease with increasing of solution concentration and volume of solutions while the limiting molecular weights increased with increasing of solution concentration and volume of solutions. It was also found that the rate of ultrasonic degradation increased with increasing the power of ultrasonic irradiation and solvent enthalpy of vaporization.
