Abstract:
Given the high stakes involved when it comes to safety and health in the mining industry, Big Data analysis has emerged as a key enabler in improving working conditions and reducing accidents in this field. The present research deals with the potential applications of Big Data in mining operations and demonstrates how data aggregation and analysis of workplace environments, employee behavior, and equipment can help in predicting accidents and in trend identification of risks. This study also examines the benefits surrounding the use of big data in improving managerial decision processes and raising employee awareness. However, challenges still exist, such as issues related to data collection and analysis, the requirements for specialized competencies as well as security concerns. This research finally gives a number of recommendations to ensure Big Data effectiveness in improving Mining safety and Health. Such findings should also help managers and stakeholders in the mining industry evolve and create a safer work environment by using modern technologies and methods.
