Blockchain-Based Access Control Mechanisms for the Internet of Things: A Comprehensive Review abstract

In recent years, distributed ledger technology has emerged as a promising solution to security and privacy challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT). Among various ledger systems, blockchain stands out for its decentralized and tamper-resistant nature. This article explores how blockchain can enhance IoT security, reviewing existing blockchain-based IoT solutions and identifying key research challenges. Additionally, we examine the latest blockchain architectures, compare prominent consensus algorithms, and assess the integration of blockchain with IoT. Given the resource constraints of IoT devices, we also discuss the importance of optimizing their processing power and energy consumption for efficient blockchain adoption.
