Reconstructing Persian Sufi Networks: Introducing al -Khanqah al - Wajīhīyya’s Role in Post -Ilkhanid Nishāpūr’s Sufism (Post 736/1335) abstract
This article examines the importance of the Khanqah al -Wajīhīyya of Nishāpūr in the post -Ilkhanid period (after 736/1335). The Khanqah was a flourishing center of both Sufism and intellectual activity, as evidenced by surviving manuscripts despite having been previously overlooked. This study will investigate the Khanqah’s dual function in promoting knowledge, particularly emphasizing Sufism and medicine. It is worth noting that the renowned scholar Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh al -Baghdādī (known as Shams al -Dīn al -Tustarī), who is recognized for his contributions to both Sufism and medicine, composed a substantial work within this Khanqah. This article provides new insights into the cultural and scholarly exchange in Greater Khurāsān. It illuminates the significance of the Khanqah in influencing the intellectual and spiritual landscape of post -Ilkhanid Khurāsān by analyzing available texts and historical documents.
