Abstract:

Using the precursor Sr(Sal)۲ (Sal = salicylidene) and sodium tungstate dehydrate (Na۲WO۴·۲H۲O), strontium tungstate (SrWO۴) nanostructures have been synthesized via the co-precipitation process. To characterize the as-synthesized nanostructures, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were performed. To investigate the optimal conditions, control the morphology, and ensure repeatability of nanosynthesis, the effects of various parameters such as solvent, temperature, and surfactant were examined. The chelation of Sr۲+ by Sal in this research was investigated, confirming that it was a general, facile, and efficient approach to control the morphology and composition of scheelite-type SrWO۴ nanostructures in certain solvents. To evaluate the activity of the SrWO۴ nanoparticles as an adsorbent for the degradation of pollutant dyes, solutions of Rhodamine B (RhB) dye were examined, and ۸۰% of the organic contaminant (Rhodamine B) was decolorized in ۶۰ minutes.
