Abstract:

Natural gas may contain acid gases such as H2S and CO2. In acid gases removal from gas streams by alkanolamines, diethanolamine (DEA) is more attractive. For the first time in Iran, this method has been utilized in Razi Petrochemical Company, which is processing the produced gas from M.I.S Gas Field. In present work gas sweetening process in Razi Petrochemical Company was simulated by HYSYS software. Parameters affecting the performance of this gas processing unit, such as sour gas composition, flow rate, temperature and pressure, lean and semi lean amine flow rate, composition and temperature were studied. Surveying the absorber tower internal temperature and H2S purity profile a sensitive tray was defined and a model proposed for it. Using tray 15 temperature and the obtained model the operator can easily adjust the operational variables and tune the absorber tower up. This could be used such an online analyzer for the operator to control the purity of the product and to improve the operational condition of the absorber tower and consequently the amine sweetening process.
