Electerocoagulation of Reactive Black and Green Dyes:Comparative study abstract
This study investigated the efficiency of electerocoagulation (EC) in removing color from synthetic textile wastewater. The study on decolorization of reactive dyes are a step toward an effective treatment of textile wastewater. Three representative reactive dye molecules were selected for the synthetic dye wastewater, blak8, black5 and green19. The EC technique showed satisfactory color removal (99.7 %) and reliable performance in treating each reactive dye. The removal efficiency and energy consumption data showed that, for a given pH and optimum current density:97A/m2, Fe / Al were used in treating the dyes with an initial concentration of 500 mg/L, the specific energy consumption in achieving above 99.0% color removal was on order of 0.65-0.88kWh/gr of dye wastewater in all systems, water recovery was 0.88-0.65L/L of wastewater. It was found that the operating parameters used for green19 dye wastewater were effective than black5 and black8 respectively
