Abstract:
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of communication skills training in reducing sexual conflicts and enhancing marital satisfaction among young couples. The statistical population consisted of young couples residing in Tehran. Using purposive sampling, ۶۰ couples were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. Data were collected through the Communication Skills Questionnaire, the Sexual Conflict Scale, and the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire, all of which were validated for reliability and validity prior to administration. The experimental group participated in eight ۹۰-minute training sessions focused on communication skills, including effective dialogue, active listening, emotion management, and conflict resolution, while the control group received no intervention. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) to compare pre-test and post-test scores. Results indicated that communication skills training significantly reduced sexual conflicts among couples (p < ۰.۰۱) and increased marital satisfaction. These findings suggest that communication skills serve as an effective tool in enhancing marital quality and mitigating sexual disagreements. Based on these results, it is recommended that family counselors, psychologists, and educational centers implement communication skills training programs as a preventive and supportive strategy to improve marital relationships and reduce sexual conflicts in young couples.
