Abstract:

Multinational corporations (MNCs) confront escalating disruptions from geopolitical tensions, supply chain vulnerabilities, and climate events, necessitating robust strategic resilience. This report synthesizes findings from nine empirical studies on MNCs operating across at least three countries. Key themes reveal that supply chain structural ambidexterity through parallel chains and supplier reconfiguration― enables rapid decision-making during crises like Brexit and COVID-۱۹. Diversification strategies, including nearshoring and geographic spread, mitigate concentration risks, while digital technologies like AI and predictive analytics significantly enhance visibility and recovery, with one study documenting a recovery index surge from ۷ to ۹۰. Methodologies were predominantly qualitative or mixed-methods, incorporating case studies and expert interviews. Implementation patterns involve supplier reconfiguration and digital deployment, yielding gains in adaptability and competitive advantage. Findings underscore the critical balance between efficiency and redundancy, favoring flexibility. Regional analysis highlights North America's superior resilience compared to Asia and Latin America, emphasizing context-specific adaptations. Challenges include cybersecurity risks and the dynamic balancing of exploration-exploitation. Ultimately, proactive resilience demands strategic alignment, organizational support, and iterative capability building for MNCs in an interconnected world.
