Analysis of Stabilization of Slopes Overlying Bedrock Using Piles and Effect of Socketted Length of Pile on Stability abstract
Piles are sometimes used for stabilization of landslides. To reinforce a slope located on bedrock with piles not only the required factor of safety should be assured, but the piles should be designed properly. Piles should be embedded in firm rock to avoid being uprooted or overturned. This research is intended to investigate the embedded length of pile in bedrock. Hence the parameters that affect the factor of safety of slope/pile system such as location, length, spacing and diameter of piles are analyzed. The embedded length of pile is calculated by plotting the shear force and bending moment diagrams along pile. The computer program FLAC (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua) based on finite difference method is used to simulate the slope/pile system in plane–strain condition.
