Abstract:

The analysis of structures subjected to dynamic loads is a fundamental aspect of structural engineering, particularly for ensuring safety and serviceability during seismic events. This study investigates a ۱۲-story, highly irregular building characterized by pronounced torsional behavior. The primary objective is to compare various base shear estimation methods and evaluate the discrepancies among them. The structure is analyzed under seismic conditions corresponding to a high relative hazard level (A = ۰.۳۵) and soil type II. It employs a dual lateral load-resisting system consisting of medium reinforced concrete moment-resisting frames and medium shear walls. In accordance with Standard No. ۲۸۰۰, the response modification factor (R) is taken as ۶, and the importance factor is considered ۱. The results demonstrate noticeable differences between base shear evaluation methods, underscoring the necessity of applying appropriate modification factors to reconcile dynamic and equivalent static base shear values. Overall, the findings contribute to a better understanding of the seismic response of irregular structures and highlight the importance of adopting accurate and reliable analysis procedures for such systems.
