Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to investigate a method for reducing carbon monoxide (CO) emissions in the foundry and metallurgy sector using thermal oxidation. For this purpose, a ۵-chamber Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) was designed, which resulted in very low production of secondary pollutants (Total Organic Compounds (TOC) ≤۲۰ mg C/Nm۳, CO ≤۵۰ mg /Nm۳, NOx ≤۵۰ mg perNm۳), which achieved exhaust carbon monoxide concentration values well below the regulatory limits set by European standards. The thermal oxidizer operates with a maximum air flow of ۱۱۰۰۰۰Nm۳/h and a gas burner capacity of ۲۳۰ kW. Its dimensions are ۶×۳×۸ m۳ and its chimney height is ۸ meters.
