Abstract:
The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of ۸ weeks of myofascial release technique of quadriceps muscles with and without static stretching of hamstring muscles on pain, lordosis and balance of female students with increased lumbar curvature. ۴۵ female students aged ۱۲-۱۷ years from schools in District ۳ and ۴ of Education in Karaj city were selected for this study And they were divided into three groups: quadriceps myofascial release with stretching (n=۱۵), quadriceps myofascial release without stretching (n=۱۵), and control group (n=۱۵). In the pre-test phase, static balance, pain, and lumbar lordosis were measured. Each of the experimental groups participated in the respective exercise program, but the control group did not participate in any exercise program. In the post-test, static balance, pain, and lumbar lordosis were measured again. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to analyze the data to ensure the normal distribution of the data in both the pre-test and post-test stages. Also, paired t- test was used to compare the difference in scores related to each variable in the pre-test and post-test in each group, one-way analysis of variance test was used to examine differences between groups, and Tukey's post-hoc test was used to find the location of differences and compare the groups pairwise. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the effectiveness of myofascial release of the quadriceps muscles with and without static stretching of the hamstring muscles on the level of pain, lordosis, and balance of female students with increased lumbar curvature. There was also a significant difference between the training and control groups (P_x۰۰۰۶_۱_x۰۰۰B__x۰۰۰۵_).
