Urban sustainability and public transportation in Iran

In this study, we will examine how public transport can contribute to achieving urban sustainability by focusing on the roles of different actors in Iran. Using the principles of green supply chain management and the theory of present actors, this research examines how public transport management can address environmental, economic, and social aspects of sustainability. The study analyzes three developed public transport systems through qualitative methods such as interviews, focus groups, and document analysis. The findings highlight the important roles of different user actors, such as passengers, operators, and government organizations, in shaping sustainable public transport policies. Key results show that good management and the use of environmentally friendly technologies greatly improve urban sustainability. This study concludes that the comprehensive participation of stakeholders and the use of innovative management strategies for public transport systems are crucial for successful urban sustainability and will provide insights for global and national efforts in the field of urban sustainability.
