Abstract:

This research investigates the critical relationship between safety culture dimensions and the frequency of human errors within construction operations in the Isfahan steel sector. Given the high-risk nature of steel production environments, understanding the underlying cultural factors that contribute to occupational accidents is essential. The primary objective of this study is to identify which specific dimensions of safety culture, such as management commitment, safety training, and workers' involvement, have the most significant impact on reducing human-related failures. The research employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, utilizing standardized safety culture questionnaires and human error identification techniques (such as HEIST or SHERPA) to gather data from a representative sample of workers and engineers involved in Isfahan’s steel construction projects. The findings of this study provide a comprehensive overview of the current safety climate and demonstrate a strong inverse correlation between a robust safety culture and the occurrence of human errors. Specifically, the results indicate that enhanced management commitment and continuous safety communication significantly mitigate risky behaviors. This study concludes with practical recommendations for industrial managers to foster a proactive safety culture, thereby enhancing overall operational safety and reducing the rate of workplace incidents. This research serves as a valuable framework for similar heavy industries aiming to optimize their safety management systems through behavioral and cultural interventions.
