Numerical investigation of droplet impact dynamics and heat transfer on thin fiber abstract
Numerical evaluation of three-dimensional model is used to study the behavior of droplets impact on fibrous filters. Since it is difficult to consider the complex network of fiber, we focused on a drop that symmetrically impact on a single fiber. In low velocities surface tension force is predominated and we observe high drag coefficient. Also of importance in cooling of hot fibers by spraying droplets, thermal analysis is investigated. The numerical results for dynamics of impacting droplet are compared with experimental measurements and reasonable agreement has been obtained under a wide range of impact velocity.
