Fabrication of Nickel Nanostructure Powder by Milling abstract
Nanostructure materials have high potential for use in structural and device applications. In this research, Ni powder was high energy echanically milled for milling times up to 12hrs in an inert atmosphere. Particle size and-shape of milled powder were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effects of heat treatment at 1073K on the structure and thermal stability of the milled powder were also investigated. The grain size and phase characterization of milled powder, before and after heat treatment, were investigated by X-Ray diffraction (XRD). The
high-energy ball milling after 12hrs results in a drastic decrease of the crystallite size down to 5Onrn.The particle size decreased to 5pm. Heat treatment of milled powder at 1073K led to increasing the lattice ordering degree and also the crystallite size to 1 1 Onm.
