E-security and Privacy and their roles in Electronic Medical Record abstract

Nowadays, Security is becoming an increasingly more important issue inusing Information System. Facing to the variety and huge amount of patient’sinformation, which is the cornerstone of health care and rising health care cost lead heath care organization to use of automated information systems in its health care services. Therefore, the importance of gathering, storing, processing and retrieving patient’s clinical is most significant. In health industry medical records are stored by Health Information System (HIS) that allows health service personnel to use information more effectively, by allowing them to get access to the Patient’s information they need, when they need it.So, Information security strategy is necessary in health industry in order to determine their risks and providing suitable policies and procedures for appropriate controls and countermeasures to manage those risks. Information security is not just a technical issue but also a policy and human issue that required the use of technology to protect the patients’ information.
