Experimental study of the ampicillin nanoparticles production via GAS abstract
The effect of supercritical gas antisolvent (GAS) process variable on the micronization of ampicillin was investigated. A solution of ampicillin in Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was prepared and then supercritical carbon dioxide was injected into this solution as antisolvent. The particle size and particle size distribution was controlled by antisolvent flow rate and pressure. Analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Zetasizer Nano ZS indicated that increasing the pressure and antisolvent flow rate, led to a decrease in particle size.
