New Developments in gas sweetenig process abstract

Hydrogen sulfide,carbon dioxide,mercaptans and other contaminants are often found in natural gas streams.H2S is a highly toxid gas that is corrosive to carbon steels.CO2 is also corrosive to equipment . Gas sweetening processes remove these contaminants so the gas is suitable for transpotation and use.Amin processes are the primary processes for natural gas sweetening.Taking another factor such as gas sweetening unit volume, energy consumption, enviromental pollutant and operational and maintenance cost into account, made researchers to regard other processes.In this paper, amin absorption with a different class of chemically absorbent(blended amins and sterically hindered amin)was initially discussed. then other absorbtion methods such as gas sweetening by membranes,H2S scavenger,hot pottasium carbomate andgas sweetening by special solvent are described.Finally claus process for H2S decomposition and its improvments is presented.
