A Detailed Investigation of Particulate Dispersion from Kerman Cement Plant abstract
In this study to identify the origin of PM10 in the atmosphere of Kerman and investigate the dispersion conditions for these particles, the variations of the mass concentration and size distribution of PM10 have been measured. This study is focused on the local environmental impact of Kerman Cement Plant. The result of this work shows that the PM10 concentrations in distances 590 m to 1370 m from cement plant stacks are higher than the WHO guidelines of annual average (260 mg/m3). A mathematical model, Gaussian plume model and artificial neural network have been used for computing and predicting concentration of PM10 from Kerman Cement Plant. Mathematical model incorporates source related factors, meteorological factors, surface roughness and the particles settling to estimate pollutant concentration from continuous sources. The measured data have been used to create an artificial neural network for predicting suspended particles concentration from Kerman Cement Plant. These data include particle concentration, distance from source, mixing height, lateral and vertical dispersion parameters and 10 meters wind speed. The performance of these models has been compared with the measured data.
