Manufacturing polyamide composite membranes via interfacial polymerization for air separation at low pressures abstract
At the first step of this study, asymmetric polyethersulfone (PES) membranes were produced via phase inversion process with different PES concentrations of 15, 18, 22, 25 wt% as the support for composite membranes. Afterwards a layer of polyamide glassy polymer was coated on the top of the support via interfacial polymerization between Diamine and Diacide solutions. The manufactured composite membranes were employed for separation of oxygen and nitrogen gases in a dead-end gas permeation module. This was carried out to evaluate the morphological alternation which is caused by monomer's concentration variation. Results depicted that composite PA membranes that is established on the
surface of a dense PES support have more selectivity compared to other composite membranes.
