Corrosion Risk Assessment of Coastal Structures in hostile environment of Persian Gulf

The consequences that follow from a corrosion failure are more important than the failure itself. Not all consequences are equally important to port management. Thus, what may appear as a trivial failure can prove to have damaging consequences (e.g. fire), whilst a more dramatic failure may be relatively unimportant in the context of safe and effective port operation. It becomes important to review coastal structures in the light of what the consequences of a given corrosion failure might be rather than with a view to determining whether, or how soon, a corrosion failure might occur. This paper outlines how corrosion risk assessment can be used to achieve this
