Use of Prestressed Concrete Pipes as Breakwaters for small Ports in Libya abstract
A conceptual implementation of the use of prestressed concrete cylinder pipes as breakwaters for small craft ports in Libya is outlined in this paper. Two basic uses of the abundantly vailable pipes as breakwater structures are presented. The idea is applied for a design case study for a fishing port breakwater west of Tripoli. Results of the design showed that it is less expensive to use such pipes for the breakwater than to use a traditional rubble mound structure.
