NOVEL, HIGHLY-ACCURATE MODELS FOR SIMULATION OF NONLINEAR, DIRECTIONAL, AND IRREGULAR WAVES AND CURRENTS abstract
This paper encapsulates the results of original research carried out in derivation of novel, highlyaccurate wave and current sets of hyperbolic, psuedo-3D, partial differential equations and associated numerical modelling issues. These new sets of equations stem from reducing the dimensionality in 3D-Euler equations by one, resulting in minimization of the computational overhead whilst avoiding the classical paradigm associated with this reduction as manifested in loss of linear and nonlinear accuracy for higher frequency range of the spectra. Analyses point to improvements in the linear and nonlinear dispersion as well as achieving full capability in simulation of simultaneous occurrence of waves and currents and their ensuing interactions.
