Investigation on Glycol Regeneration Packages of South Pars Phase 2 & 3 abstract

A glycol aqueous solution of 70% wt MEG (Mono Ethylene Glycol) is injected offshore in the sea lines, in order to avoid hydrate formation during the transfer to onshore facilities. Then it regenerates in four identical glycol regenerate packages. The main problem in this unit refers to calcium, which produced from the wells and accumulates in MEG loop then deposits on the reboiler and heat exchanger of MEG package and cause the efficiency of these packages reduce. To find the best operational condition in this situation 2 tests run have been done on one package and duty of reboiler and exchanger are calculated. Then the best operational conditions were recommended.
