Abstract:

Applied linguistics is a main branch of linguistics which has a large impact on language teaching and learning. Similarly, assessment, the process of gathering, analyzing, interpreting and using information about student's progress and achievement in order to improve teaching and learning, can play an important role in increasing the language skills of students in classrooms. Moreover, the purpose of this research is to raise the level of students' linguistic competence by using a suitable assessment method. Finally, as clear, without a good assessment, the level of knowledge and language performance of students cannot be identified. So, choosing an appropriate assessment, their teacher can discover how much their students have improved during the course. As a result, the teacher can use better ways to improve the students' language skills.
