Determination of Volatile Compounds of Rosa laxa Retz var harputense T. Baytop (Kişmiri rose)

The tradition of gardening and growing ornamental plants goes back till Urartians in Van region. Therefore, there are different ornamental plants in old and traditional gardens in Van provinces of Turkey. Some of these are old garden roses which have different origins. However; there is a few information on roses. Rosa laxa Retzius var. harputense T. Baytop (Kişmiri rose), is an exotic plant coming from Central Asia. Kişmiri rose is a delicate rarity rose with semi double and miniature properties and blooms for approximately 5 months in the ecological conditions of Van. It is a kind of rose which hashighly decorative outlook and which is known to have a lightly and pleasant fragrance. In this study, headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) was applied for the analysis of volatile compounds of flower samples. A total of 31 compounds of Kişmiri rose were identified and quantified using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Some of these identified compounds are 26.59% Phenylethyl Alcohol, 18.573%-Hexen-1-ol, acetate and 13.64% Octane.
