Introduction and selection of the garden roses in Azerbaijan

Rosa L. genius were introduced to the Central Botanical Garden of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science and were assembled 530 rose species and sorts which represents different garden groups. According to their complex biological and economical importance features- flowers and bush ornamental quality, for a long period of continuous flowering, disease resistance were selected 184 rose sorts. They were recommended to be used for planting of greenery Baku and other industrial centres, renovation of the courtyards and garden areas. Along with the introduction of cultivars of theforeign countries, since 2006 were beginning to cultivate local rose sorts by using selection and hybridization in CBG. Currently in experiment areas there are more than 600 hybrid seedlings and more than 3500 their reproduction planting material which were reproduced by using vegetative method. Successful sorts like 066(a) – Sensiz , 066 (2) – Nizami Genjevi , 0749 – Absheron Simfoniyasi , 0870 – Odlar Yurdu , 0965 – Qara gile , 0966(1) – Shegin Seheri , 0966(3) – Ulduzlu Xazar , 0994 – Kohne Baki , 09137 – Sarı Koynek will be introduced to the Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of the Agriculture State Commission for Selection Achievements Test and Protection as a new genotype sorts which were cultivated by selection method.
