Modeling of hydrocarbon+water phase equilibria using CPA EOS abstract
Phase equilibrium of the water-hydrocarbon mixtures is an important subject in the design and operation of petrochemical plants and petroleum industries. The presence of hydrocarbon in aqueous media is important for organic pollutants in the environment and the presence of water in hydrocarbon is important in industries such as to protect the equipments from the corrosion. On the other hand, water content in hydrocarbon productcan effect on the product quality. In this work the cubic plus association equation of state (CPA EOS) was used to calculate the hydrocarbons (methane, ethane and propane) solubility in water. The binary interaction parameters in the calculations are adjusted as temperature dependent parameter. The results showed that the CPA-EOS is suitable for predicting the phase equilibrium of the water-hydrocarbon mixtures.
