Abstract:
Venturi scrubbers are extensively utilized in gas cleaning. The cleansing elements in these scrubbers are droplets formed from the atomization of a liquid into a dust-laden gas. In this study,a mathematical model based on Eulerian/Lagrangian method has been developed. This model considered Eulerian approach for gas stream motion and Lagrangian approach for droplet movement. Moreover, In order to model the evolution of the polydisperse droplet phase, thepopulation balance equation (PBE) is coupled to the continuity and momentum balance equations. The velocity field of gas flow was determined using k-) turbulence model. The results from the model are in good agreement with the experimental data. After validating the model the effect ofoperating parameters such as gas velocity and distance from liquid injection point was used to predict mean diameter of droplet. It was found that all these variables significantly affect to droplet size
