Abstract:

Electric arc furnace (EAF) modeling has been a common research area to date. This paper work proposes a new field-data based EAF-specific and static var compensator (SVC) models. The data used in developing the proposed model is obtained from field measurements of instantaneous voltages and currents of EAF the plants. This model presents the dynamic behavior of the EAF system including time variant and nonlinear model. Also SVC control system is implemented by proportional-integral (PI) controller and the mutual effect of SVC on EAF furnaces and the power quality are mentioned. The transient and steady state performances of the methods are studied in control system and fuzzy algorithm is used for improvement of SVC system. The validity of the proposed model has been verified by comparing EMTDC/PSCAD simulations of the model with the field measurements. The results obtained have shown quite satisfactory correlation between the proposed model and the actual EAF operation and also the improving in SVC control response
