Determination of development of sustainable ecotourism in Naharkhoran of Gorgan

Tourism industry is considered one of the new economic, social, and ecological opportunities with a fast-paced growth due to global demands for it. With regard to its various potentials, Iran has been considered one of tourism centers. Therefore, virgin natural attractions and landscapes, among others, have made a basis for developing ecotourism. In this regard, planning with a cooperative and strategic approach can be regarded as one of the method to make use of such opportunities for the cities with high ecotourism potential. The present study was formulated in order to recognize and present the main strategy in tourism development in Naharkhoran of Gorgan from 150 natives’ viewpoints according to cooperative-strategic planning approach through descriptive-analytic method by using SWOT Model. The results obtained from the present study revealed that various strategies should be considered for policymaking, management, and planning in ecotourism in order to develop and enhance sustainable ecotourism in Naharkhoran of Gorgan.
