Assessment of Environmental and Heavy metal pollution at the Gorgan Gulf and the Qareh Sou River

This paper investigates the environmental and heavy metal pollution at the Gorgan Gulf and the Qareh Sou River. In the way of obtaining this goal, concentration of 3 elements including Cd, Zn, Pb are determined. In order to study heavy metals, water sample taken from the Gorgan Gulf and the estuary of the Qareh Sou River was used. Based on the results, it is merged that the heavy metals comparing with standards” show that this area is not polluted with heavy metals, although water sample of the Gorgan Gulf, in which was physiologically polluted according to the report of the Department of Health, that said: it is not suitable for swimming. Level of zinc in the water samples was higher than lead and cadmium; however, its amount is less than the authorized limits.
