Abstract:

High temperature water gas shift reaction was carried out over nanocrystalline chromium and chromium free iron based catalysts. Mesoporous catalysts were prepared by coprecipitation method. The results indicated that at lower temperatures, both the Fe-Al-Ni-Ba catalyst and Fe-Cr-Cu catalysts showed the highest CO conversion. Furthermore, addition of Ba improved HTS activity of the Fe-Al-Ni catalyst while suppressed the progress of methanation reaction, which was related to the increment of amount in weakly basic sites through promoter addition. The stability tests revealed that although Fe-Al-Cu catalysts showed the slight decrease in the activity, the Fe-Al-Ni-Ba and the prepared Fe-Cr-Cu catalysts possessed high activity and stability without any decrease in CO conversion during 50 h time on stream.
