Abstract:
hypericum perforatum from hypericaceae family is important medicinal plant and contains active ingredients including hypericin and hyperforin. This plant has anti-bacterial, anti-depressants and anti-inflammatary properties [1]. Tissue culture of medicinal plants in Invitro condition is provided possibility to achieve some important secondary metabolites in plants therefore elicitors be considered as a factor can induct secondary metabolites more than needed in plant [2]. This study was undertaken to investigation of effect of different concentrations of salicylic acid (0, 200, 400, 600 (μ.M)) and MS medium (50 % and 100%) and B5 medium (50 % and 100%). Salicylic acid treatments were applied after 40 days. Experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with three replications. Ten days after the treatments, hypericin content was examined. The results showed there is no significant effect of salicylic acid on hypericin content in applied concentrations. Also medium cultures don’t have much effect on hypericin content.
