Abstract:
Tuned liquid damper, which it called briefly(TLD), is a vibration damper in the passive category. For its high function, its use is increasing every day. In East Asian countries, due to the earthquake-prone regions, TLD is greatly considered. TLD is a tank containing fluid that it generally is water. In this system, by using of the sloshing of water in the tank, the vibration incoming to structure system transfers to the damper and causes that the water in the tank is forced into sloshing. In this way, the incoming energy to the structure system is wasted by a fluid sloshing. In addition, the fluid height change in the tank due to structure system movement caused by vibration, creates a returning force into the tank. In this study, first, the tuned liquid damper systems are introuduced then its equations are obtained. Finally, the water sloshing into the tank of the tuned liquid damper is modeled in the ABAQUS software.
