Abstract:

Dynamic analysis of FGM thick-walled spheres under mechanical and thermal shocks was carried out using a mesh-free method. Temperature history is initially calculated based on heat conduction equation. Then weak form ofmotion equation is solved by using temperature history and internal pressure as thermal and mechanical loads, respectively. The maximum time steps for heat and motion equations are different. At each time step of motionequation, temperature distribution should be first determined. Compiling temperature history at each time step of motion equation requires a large memory space. The current study offers a new method to minimize memory spacerequired. Response of system to mechanical and combined thermal-mechanical loading conditions were studied and the effect of power law exponent on the response of system was discussed.
