The Effect Of Ductility on the Weight of Designed Reinforcement Bars in RC Beam Element According To ACI 318-05, CSA A23,3- 04 And Euro Code 8: BS EN1988-1:2004 abstract

The main goal of this study is to investigate the effect of ductility on the weight of designed reinforcement bars in a beam element according toACI 318-05, CSA A23,3-04 and Euro code 8: BS EN1988-1:2004. To achieve the goal totally twelve models were created using nonlinear finite element software. The models were different in story number, frame type and used code. Earthquake load, dead load and live load were applied on the structure according to Iranian standard 2800-3rd edition. The weight of reinforcement bars in each model was presented as results. Software output generally showed that the weight of demand reinforcement bars of a RC beam in a special moment resistance frame is more than a similar beam with the same situation in an intermediate moment resistance frame.
